The other day while on a conference call someone used the term "ad hoc". The context was in the creation of programs with software that are designed quickly to do a specific function. I have heard/used this term many times, but had never looked it up.
Of course my first impulse was to google it. It literally means, "for this purpose." However what caught my eye was the first thing on the list. It was a link to a restaurant named "Ad Hoc" (www.adhocrestaurant.com). More intriguing than the name is their tagline - for temporary relief from hunger. Pretty slick... a restaurant that creates one family-style meal each day for a specific purpose - to temporarily relieve hunger.
As a follower of Christ, I believe I was created ad hoc. I was created for a specific purpose. Well, we all were. And we all spend the majority of our lives, if not all of it, trying to determine what that purpose is. And here's the cool part. When we come to the realization of what our true purpose is, to glorify our Creator and live in a relationship with Him, then our hunger is permanently relieved.
